Permanent Marker DIY

27 06 2012 DIY

Would you like to do something really forbidden?

Yes?

Then grab a permanent marker and draw ONTO - for example - a seat cushion!

Yes - your childhood desires are finally heard!

It might only work on cotton and you should protect the backside of your work with slipping a plastic bag between the layers of your piece so the colors won't bleed through to the back. I just left the foam inside and it worked fine.

After you are done drawing, sprinkle about 10 drops ( depends on the size of your design - I used a lot more for the large "flower") rubbing alcohol onto the middle of your finished design and watch the magic evolving and spreading right before your eyes. Let dry and iron or put in a dryer to heat set the colors.

Incredible fun and super easy. I just drew a very simple design but you can experiment with different shapes and colors.

If you try it please let me know - I would love to see YOUR design!

Does This Sound Familiar To You?

25 06 2012 Thinking About

The other day I stumbled over the following sentences at Biancas' blog "Wohnlust":

"You know, my blog kind of doesn't existst for my close friends. Even my girlfriends never talk about it! It's practically hushed. They never ask me about it or give me feedback - they probably never visit the blog anyway. I have no idea why. Maybe no interest. What a bummer and actually really sad."

Wow - I had to take a deep breath - because, that DID sound familiar to me.

Of course not all my close friends are that kind of special regarding my blog - there are sweet ones who would say "hi" in comments and ask me about the blog and are interested in it. Or the stressed ones who really have barely a spare minute. Or the quiet ones, who - from time to time would send an e-mail or a card to let me know, how much they like to read my blog. But the rest: SILENCE!

girl hugging tree and logging at it

Why is that? Does it sound familiar to you, too ???

I actually liked Bianca's powerful reaction:

"If my girlfriend had a blog - and supposed I like that blog - I would:

a) show up on her blog regulary

b) always leave a comment to support her work and show my appreciation

c) shower her with compliments

d) want all the beautiful pictures she shows on her blog

e) tell everyone about this awesome blog!

 But anyway -  doesn't matter -  I might be different... "

Well - I agree - it doesn't matter much - no big deal.

But I definitely think, that there should be more praise amongst each other. So vital and it doesn't cost anything!

I'm sure, you do a thousand different little and big things during your day. Some will turn out great - some just don't...

But you do your best anyway and that is AWESOME.

YOU ARE AWESOME!!!

I am happy because YOU are here right now in this very moment. Thank you.

AND A BIG HUG TO ALL MY READERS!!!

Pinterest Picks 1

23 06 2012 Thinking About

After my SoLebIch post some of you have started to wonder and ask why I rarely share pictures of my home.

Well - my husband, our two wonderful children, three cats, two pianos and myself rent out a large apartment furnished by the owner.

We relocated from the U.S. almost three years ago and tried to ship as little as possible over the ocean plus it took eight weeks for the container to arrive... Luckily we found this old old - ready to move in - schoolhouse in a remote country village and as romantic and wonderful that might sound - fact is, we still don't live in our own stuff ( except the pianos...).

We had planned to stay in this house for at most a year but you know how things go: time passes, my little daughter got well adjusted at the tiny elementary school around the corner, the kids made friends, we made friends, the cats made enemies, the pianos got tuned... and so on...

We still are on the lookout for a new own home but so far it hasn't happend yet. I did already find my dream house though - unfortunately it's occupied by a small media buisness who signed a long term lease and the owner doesn't want to sell :((( I will try to share some pictures of that house in one of my next posts and will ask all of you to help manifest for us and change destiny so this dream can come true for me and my family!!! :-)

Meanwhile I will start sharing some of my favourite Pinterest picks from time to time so you can get an idea how my home could look. I love Pinterest - what a great inspiration to see all these awesome images! Plus I learned to do these collages and having a lot fun with it. Enjoy!
