Underwater on a sunny day...

It is so incredibly calm and peaceful under water - the resistance slows down my movements and gives me a free, floating slow motion feeling. I listen only to my even breath while fully taking in this amazing indescribable beauty.

So relaxing - I wish, i could be at the ocean right now...

What Is Bookcrossing?

Bookcrossing is a worldwide forum for book reading, book exchange and releasing books!

So - here is what happened.

Helga from Holunderblütchen found this absolutely adorable little book called "Elfi und Schmalzmann auf Wanderschaft" while jogging in a park.

Someone had put it in a bag and hung it on a tree so it could be found. By Helga.

And after Helga enjoyed it she decided to sent the book on a "blogger-journey" and I was next!

The small book is written in 1957 and tells about everyday life of a family that raises pets and rescues wild animals in their apartment!

Sounds - äh - a bit strange - but it really is a treasure with its black and white photographs and the glimpse into life short after war.

It brought many fond childhood memories back to me because my father raised a lot of animals too when my brother and I were young in the sixties and seventies.

As much as I would love to keep the book forever I will of course honor Helgas idea and send it to the next blogger: Holunder

Andrea lives in the south of Germany at beautiful Bodensee and loves animals and nature.

The book will be in good hands...

Pinterest Picks In Grey

I'm a BIG Pinterestfan.

So many great pictures! For me it's almost becoming a replacement for those expensive home and lifestyle magazines.

I would love to put together these collages all the time if there wouldn't be the tedious search for the origin of a pic.

That's really elaborate and even if you have done that work it's still uncertain if it's o.k. to post without personally asking for permission, I guess. There are horrible story's out there about suing and fines...

So - I'm not really sure about how to do this best... What is your take and opinion on this topic?

I thought my love of grey is fairly new but I just saw that I had already a post about it last year.

There is a picture of our cat Blitzi and me in the post. He has been very sick this year with a mistreated infection. Pour yellow-eyed boy...but he's all better now. I'm really thankful for that.

Right after I moved to Southern California I got this strong feeling: "This is IT - I will never ever leave this great place"

And why should I? Always sunny and relaxed easy peasy wonderful living...

What I didn't count in where my roots. Until they were starting to slowly but persistently pull me back to my home country Germany I didn't even know that I have something like roots.

After years I finally gave in and moved back to where I was born. Flat land - highly farmed because of the fertile soil - not a really pretty part of Germany - but...home.

...should be the size of ALL bath towels.

No freezing - No shivering after a shower or bath with a towel only covering either your shoulders or your middle parts with a little bit of upper legs...

A larger towel is pure wellness.

Or - even better - it's pure childhood.

Cleaned - wrapped - cared - secured - warmed up - all - is - good - childhood.

When I was a child we took bathes on Saturday evenings and while we were in the tub, our towels and pajamas were warmed at the fire place. So cozy...such good memories...and the towels were large enough to be totally covered in because we were just little...

I bought these large size beauties at Sundance.

O.K. - the kids need to grow into them...

I just learned that there is a "Cloud Appreciation Society"!

They have a beautifully written and so true Manifesto - just perfect for getting into an autumn mood filled with gratefulness for natures wonders, abundance and...

CLOUDS

Here it goes:

"We believe that clouds are unjustly maligned and that life would be immeasurably poorer without them.

We think that they are Nature's poetry, and the most egalitarian of her displays, since everyone can have a fantastic view of them.

We pledge to fight 'blue-sky-thinking' wherever we find it. Life would be dull if we had to look up at cloudless monotony day after day.

We seek to remind people that clouds are expressions of the atmosphere's moods, and can be read like those of a person's countenance.

My Muffin

I work out regularly.

Ohhkeeey - after summer break I need to work my way back into it again...

Sometimes - very rarely though - I manage a few disciplined days in a row with limited food intake and if I am lucky, I even loose a tiny bit weight.

It shows right away.

In my face.

More wrinkles.

The area I actually want to reduce and which stays completely unimpressed by all my efforts is my belly.

My Muffin.

This big, soft area which drapes so nicely over a low waist jeans.

Do you know, what I'm talking about?

[update: I removed the link to her blog because of this. I don't want to support a blog like that with sending traffic it's way...

Well - there is for sure one person who doesn't know what I'm talking about and that is Joanna.

She seems a really nice person in fantastic shape after having three children.

~~Here~~ you can no longer read how she does that.

After a plate with scampis and baguette Joanna is so full and satisfied that there wouldn't even fit in a bit of ice-cream. And right in the middle of having a delicious piece of cake her disciplined little stomach signals her: Oh - STOP - I have ENOUGH!

I'm in awe - and of course jealous - because MY body would NEVER do that...

But envy doesn't melt belly fat either, I realize...

So, maybe this video shows the way to deal with the matter but I think I lack the amount of self-confidence it would need to take on that way...

...

And then my adorable and lovely daughter showed me the solution while cuddling in bed at night time the other day: "I love to rest my head on your pretty Mommy-Muffin!", she said.

Sometimes all you have to do is just changing the perspective and see a "problem" from a different kind of angle, accept a nice compliment, listen more to your wonderful kids and all of the sudden it's - well, not exactly gone - but a LOT better.

First Jump!!!

Sorry - a bit blurred - but I had to share it because it was such a happy moment for my daughter Jette and I'm so glad I got to be there watching it - she had dreamed about trying out jumping for quite some time and finally it happened!

She was glowing afterwards and beaming pure joy out of her blue eyes.

It got me thinking...

Wouldn't it be wonderful, if we - as adults - could still so openly and fully engaged embrace something new to us instead of often being just too worried?

Wouldn't it be great to expect - just as my daughter did - nothing else than a spectacular and awesome experience from an unfamiliar happening?

I know - we are not innocent anymore and of course we have many responsibilities which protect us from making impulsive decisions.

But I think, it could be totaly worth trying to loosen up a bit and seek some unusual projects.

Even scientist found out that your brain loves to experience "premiers" and they say, that this actually might be the only really working anti-aging agent for your body.

Interesting, right?

Did YOU try, eat, see, read, make, explore, ..., something totally new or unfamiliar to you recently?

Is there something you really would like to try but it just hasn't happen yet?

And don't forget the foliage - no good decoration these days without leafy greens...

But - honestly - my favorite is the unpretentious beautiful linen towel I found at Porch.

Favorite Places

More favorite places are collected at "Hunger Pipi Langeweile" today.

Oh yes - I have a constantly growing list of favorite places - from my children's beds to exotic destinations!

In fact almost any place has the potential to become a favorite place for me because I always appreciate to discover something new, exciting and interesting. And with mindfulness, a sense of wonder, gratitude and a positive attitude there will be fun adventures everywhere no matter if a place is right around the corner or very far away.

I'm often juggling life doing ten things at the same time - I'm sure, you do that to - and if life gets really crazy I'm longing to visit one very special favorite place; A different world free of all distractions where nothing else seems to matter...

Wonder-Tree - Tree-Wonder

The Moreton Bay Fig Tree is a well known fixture and one of the oldest living things in the city of Santa Barbara, as well as the nation's largest of it's kind. The tree is located closely to the train station, highway and downtown.

It has a span of over 160 feet and provides more than 21,000 square feet of shade - enough shade to cover about 16.000 people(!) - with it's uniquely shaped tree top.

These pictures show just a tiny little piece of it!

This HUGE tree is about 135 years old - a landmark and as such, obtains special treatment. From nourishment to help it grow, to protection under the law that insures it will not be cut down (well, i really, REALLY don't want to imagine that...).

Locals, visitors and kind-of-in-between-these-two-categories-people like me have come to know and LOVE this special tree.

But all of these above sentences are just 'facts'- the real wonder happens 'under' this beautiful giant.

An out of this world atmosphere , a perfect mixture of calming and nourishing vibes emanate from it's visible roots, it's immensely strong - in this form never seen - branches, it's wide, wide crown.

YES, this is a real inspiration!

Be deeply rooted, let some roots be present, strong core, reach out in an unique, authentic way, keep an wide open mind on top of that with lot's of room for all kinds of living beings and fun adventures crossing your path, stay calm and in the 'now', breathe and THEN: KEEP GROWING...

Dreamhouse

This is the dream house I was talking about in one of my previous posts.

Unfortunately it's rented out by a media buisness right now...

But those kind of facts CAN change, right? RIGHT???

Destiny somewhat knows mercy, right?

Two years ago the owner was desperately looking for new tenants but nobody wanted it. Can you belief that? I wish, I would have known...

The house is beautifully located in a quiet little park close to the center of the city.

Some of my girlfriends find the location a bit strange, but I think it's magical.

I visit the house once a week and never ever had an odd feeling.

I was even inside once for a quick visit - unfortunately without camera. The rooms were gorgeously flooded with natural light thru these lovely windows....

Oh - please PLEASE - if you have any spare energy then please help manifesting this dream for us. Just imagine all the great interior pictures I could take then and post here on the blog!!!

You want to see the inside of this house, too, right?

Traveling is one of my absolute favorite things to do.

And dreaming about traveling the world for a whole year is one of my absolute favorite day dreams.

(Unfortunately it's my husbands and my kids favorite night mare...)

But for me it sounds fantastic. Full of potential adventure and beauty. So promising...
