I still remember the "before Internet" - times very well.
Back then inspiration came from books, magazines, maybe movies but most ideas just came out of ourselves.
During my study at HAWK we had weekly assignments in creative projects. Very little parameter were given and everybody worked on different ideas.
So - all you could do was playing with materials and observe and notice if a good idea started to come up.
I loved these assignments because...

...we were basically free to do whatever we wanted. Though, thinking back i must say that we all limited ourselves quite a bit.
Maybe because we were young and inexperienced. Or just because the times were different than today.
Or maybe because we hadn't really seen a lot in our lives at that point.
But I know for sure that this inspiration thing is a totally different one these days.
Most of us won't have the time and energy to just play around and wait for inspiration to spark.
So it's a wonderful thing to visit websites, blogs, Pinterest, social media and so on for an inspirational kick. I try to choose the sites I visit consciously to avoid becoming dull with all these images and endless possibilities out there. Can you relate? Do you regularly retreat from media inspiration?
It's a running joke between my husband and me that I say: "Ok, I NEED to retreat!" and he goes: "WHAT do you need to retweet?" :)
Anyway - even if you limit "screenspiration" from time to time a bit you can still find plenty of nice things to look at like I did on a recent visit to a Free People store.
There were quite a few fun DIY Ideas to spot: I like the jewelry display and the wall textures and decor and of course the hanging tassels - please take a look!
Thank you Free People for letting me take these pictures.
