Snowy Alps

Lech am Arlberg

Lech am Arlberg

This weeks theme over @Luzia Pimpinella   is "frosty".

Well - there is no more frost here in northern Germany right now - we have had a pretty mild winter so far and the last days were even warm with up to 10 degrees which is unusual warm for February.

But I still have plenty of pictures from our frosty winter vacation to show - so, here are two of my favorites.

Happy Day,

Anette

The Alps In Grey With Touches Of Baby Blue And Lilac

09 01 2014

It's Thurday again - time for BIWYFI!

Todays theme is January Grey and I will show you a few more pictures we took in the Austrian alps.

Not as many as in my last post though :-)

I picked these two pictures to show because of the light and the colors.

They are taken in the late afternoon - the sun sets and the magical light chances every few seconds coloring the snowy mountains baby-blue and lilac under a peachy sky.

I love that time of the day on the slopes because mostly everyone went already home and it is quiet and beautiful again.

Since these pictures were taken on our last day in the alps I will send the first one to Foto der Woche as my favorite pic of the first January week.

Happy Day,

Snowy Mountain Pictures From The Alps - Print Give Away

05 01 2014

Happy and Healthy New Year to you!!!

Yesterday we came back from our little mountain trip to the austrian alps.

We had - just like last years ski vacation - a great time and wonderful sunny weather with bright blue skies most of the time.

But when I looked thru the many pictures I took, it were the ones from the snowy and overcast days which intrigued and fascinated me the most.

I love how snow and sky become one and the mountains, trees, sheds and shrubs look like sketched in!

All pictures were taken with an iPhone 5s and all I did afterwards in Aperture was adding a little bit more exposure - making them a bit lighter.

No color was changed or added.

They are similar mood wise but at the same time so unique with their different structures that I had a very hard time picking just a few.

In fact - It would be great if YOU could help me pick one of these for printing.

Just leave a comment and let me know your favorite in this row of 8 photographs - starting top with 1 -  and receive a free high quality print of the one we decide on.

Thanks so much for helping you lovely readers!!!

Your favorite is picture No.3 followed by picture No.5!

I will have them both printed by a local business here in town in the next days and then send them out to you - THANKS again for participating.

Lech Am Arlberg - Winterwonderland

19 12 2013

Hopefully!

This picture is from last year when it snowed early.

This years december is a lot warmer and we are still waiting for snow.

We will again spend a few days after Christmas in this beautiful mountain village in the Austrian alps.

The picture shows my favorite view from the slopes looking down on the village and the Omeshorn mountain.

It's late afternoon and the sunset spreads a few last golden moments. The slopes are quiet.

Everybody went back to the cabins after a day spent outside in the crisp air...

Time to read and play and to look forward to a delicious mountain dinner by the fire.

So wonderful!
