Warten - Waiting...

20 12 2012 DIY

... for Christmas was not really difficult at all this year because I participated in a wonderful idea called Adventspost.

24 Bloggers - 24 Advent-days - one for each to send 24 little handmade greeting cards to each of the other participants.

This way we were all greeted with magical little pieces of art each day!

Here is how our door looks so far:

Meanwhile all my family awaits the daily mail full of anticipation...

I got the 19...

...and transferred a copied beautiful tree illustration from an old Christmas piano music book I loved for years.

I used this medium to transfer the tree I had printed with the laser printer onto heavy weight watercolor paper. It worked very well. (Probably I could have printed the tree right onto the heavy paper, right? Don't know about these machines...) Well...

Then I colored the piece slightly and added some accents with oil pastel and my favorite neon pens. For the cooper stars I used this tape and imprinted the 19 with a round tipped tool.

Just a very few more days...

Have a happy day, there is more "waiting" today here,

Anette

Blogwichteln

19 12 2012

What a wonderful idea!

Almost 300 bloggers participated in a gift exchange.

And look what i got!

Isn't that a super cute little bracelet? I LOVE it!!!! And the nail polish has a beautiful wintery color - there were also two tiny stamps.

I can't wait to make little silver pendants with them...

My partner for this fun event that was organized by LiebeleiBlogwichteln was Zoe von Golden&Pink and I send her a BIG kiss and a BIG hug for such nice presents.

It is a really wonderful and uplifting feeling to know, a stranger has put much thought into picking something special to make you happy.

And of course I was more than happy to do the same for Zoe.

And of course it had to be pink and golden...

But why on earth did I then sent her a SILVER colored bracelet and necklace...

I can't say...must be some sort of Christmas blindness...

Oh well - she said, she loved it anyway...

So - hang in there - enjoy and have a happy day,

Neon Christmas Trees

17 12 2012 DIY

Quick, Quick...

Get the crochet hook...ready set go!

These crochet Christmas trees are so much fun to make and finished in a few minutes.

Let them happily dance from the ceiling, tape them to a wall, pretty as an ornament or a gift tag, for your table decoration, on your door or window...possibilities are endless!

I'm sure you can't stop after one - I couldn't...

I loved the neon color throughout the year, so why don't use it for Christmas decoration too? It is such a happy color and I like it especially in combination with natural wood and nordic interior design.

Nowadays you can get neon wool everywhere - back in spring one had to hunt for it online...

The second version I made is from thin mohair crocheted with my big 12mm hook.

They are really pretty, delicate and fluffy.

O.K. - let's get started: Please note that I drew "trebles" on the chart instead of "doubles". Of course it does work with trebles too!!! - I just thought, this is the sign for doubles since it has two marks...oh well... so:

Chain 5 and join with a slip stitch.

1st round:

Make 3 chain, 3 double, 3 chain, 4 double, 3 chain, 4 double, 3 chain and join with a slip stitch.

Slip stitch 3 to the next space.

2nd round:

3 chain, 3 double, 3 chain, 4 double in that first space made in the previous round.

1 chain, 4 double, 3 chain, 4 double in the next space.

1 chain, 4 double, 3 chain, 4 double in the last space.

1 chain and join with a slip stitch.

Slip stich 3 to the next space

3rd (and last!) round:

3 chain, 3 double, 4 chain, 4 double in space from previous row.

1 double in the middle of double group from previous round.

4 doubles in next space.

1 double in the middle of double group from previous row.

4 double, 4 chain, 4 double in next space.

1 double in the middle of double group from previous row.

4 doubles in next space.

1 double

4 double, 4 chain, 4 double.

1 chain

4 double in next space.

1 chain and join with a slip stitch

Phew!!!

I hope I didn't forget a stitch...

Now turn your little tree and slip stitch 2 back for the trunk:

3 chain, 3 double

turn

3 chain, 3 double (I ran out of yarn at this point on the picture... :-))

Cut and pull yarn thru the stitch, make a knot or sew the ending.

If you like take a piece of yarn and tie on top for hanging.

Done!!!

Next one, please...

After the third one it will go really fast because you don't have to look up the pattern...

Advent Advent...

28 11 2012

...soon the first candle will be lit...

We celebrate Advent with a wreath and four candles - one for each Sunday before Christmas.

I like to buy my wreaths at the Waldorfschool bazaar because it is a nice way to support the school.

This year I came home with a mistletoe wreath and four adorable wooden star candle holders.

They were a dollar and fifty cents each inclusive candles and are made by the students.

Aren't they beautiful?

I also liked those "flower balls" a lot.

I bought one additional wreath, but will show that one tomorrow...

until then...

...have a happy day,

Anette
