In The Last 25 Years...

...Germanys northernmost island SYLT hasn't changed too much.

And of course that is a good thing.

A few more houses and shops but basically it is still how I remember it a quarter of a century ago when we came here as a young couple to camp and play Volleyball during summer.

The beaches are absolutely beautiful and those ever rolling waves will always be there to be enjoyed. It's so nice to be at the ocean!

Warming Pony-Love

Unfortunately it is already time again to say Good Bye to Ponyland Norddeich.

The temperature is still below zero but our hearts are filled with lots of warming love for and from the ponies.

They are such wonderful beings.

A week full of fun, learning, experiences and thorough practice in teamwork, mindfulness, empathy, attention, discipline and respect = horseback riding

went by much too fast...

We will drive up a little further north to spent a few more days on Germanys northernmost island and I will get back to you from there tomorrow.

I Did It!

Is there something you are thinking about to try out for the first time?

Or something you did or had long time ago and it is still a good memory in your head?

You should definitely do or get it (again)!

Maybe it is a habit, or a friend you haven't seen for quite a while, a place you used to frequent, food you once ate all the time, family traditions you have loved so much or a sport you did when you were a child.

The latter is the one I did yesterday.

YES!!! I got on that horse and is was WONDERFUL.

People told me it is like riding a bike - you still know what to do - but I really wasn't sure at first.

But after a few minutes I indeed felt home again!

I do some sports but horseback riding is so different from all I do because there is this sweet partner.

And that means you have to focus. And I really like that fact.

I had to fully concentrate on what we two were doing because when I normally work out I usually think of the thousand things I have to do once I am done.

Unfortunately "Vicki" had an ouchy yesterday (not my fault!!!) and my new partner will be Haflinger "Morris".

He is even prettier than Vicki (sorry Vick!) with its long long mane.

Hope I can do some more pictures today - It snowed AGAIN all night up here at the North Sea in Germany...

This time my children talked me into riding a horse MYSELF! WAHHHHHH...

I will let you know, if that is really going to happen:)

At least i bought second hand riding pants and boots...

Wish me luck please - last time I have been on a horse is more than 30!!! years ago.

But I love them...hope, that counts.

It is a foggy and grey Sunday here today - perfect for relaxing...

I found this grey washed linen bedding at Merci's (here is a post about the shop and its philosophy)- a wonderful shop we stopped by last year when we went to Maison&Object in Paris.

Yesterday I went to Ambiente in Frankfurt and discovered many fun things there as well which I will share with you in upcoming posts.

Yesterday White - Today Colorful

I love to show you shops I find on trips: In Copenhagen or Santa Barbara for example or today from our recent ski trip to the alps.

Lenai&Linai - were two sisters who lived in the alps and the story about their life was so inspiring to shop owner Sonia Zimmermann, that she named her wonderful little location after them. The shop is located right next to the church of beautiful mountain village Lech/Arlberg.

Their handmade clothing line and bags are just gorgeous: very creative, individual and colorful made from fine wool and felt.

Great inspiration right at the front door...

...my favorite piece: a light wool coat with neon details!!! And look at those cool Felt-Trophys hanging from the wall...

... I loved the splendid wish-tree!

And these cute angels...

...and the best: a generous amount of humor!!!

A Visit To The Vikings

Last April we went to Copenhagen as you might already now from my recent posts about it here and here. But I haven't shared pictures from our visit at the Viking Ship Museum located in Roskilde, a 45min car ride from Copenhagen.

Today Roskilde is famous for it's awesome rock festival but the Vikings liked the quaint little town for it's natural safe harbor bay.

The fierce Vikings sank five of their ships to the bottom of their bay to make it harder for attackers to make landfall. Those five ships - or what was left of them after 1000 years under water - were found in the end of the Fifties, brought to daylight again and all their pieces were put together again in years worth of effort to make a great exhibit - worth to be seen!

Another sight to be seen were the temporarily - slightly more modern - window paintings in the exhibition hall.

Aren't they cool?

And all that comes with a really nice museum shop - where we right after buying it lost our precious rune-translation table again - who knows where to. Thankfully I did not buy those sweet little felt slippers - their loss would be harder to stomach
